A brand specialising in mountain sports such as skiing since it was founded in 1947, Salomon later turned to trail running in the 2000s. In 2023, the brand founded in Annecy by Georges Salomon gained popularity with sneaker fans, who are happy to wear its models well away from dirt tracks and hiking paths.
Salomon: the leader in outdoor trainers
Salomon turned to trail and hiking at the start of the 2000s. Newly bought by Adidas, the brand from Savoie saw its main business, skiing, decline and decided at the same moment to commit to trail running. In a highly competitive outdoor field with major players such as The North Face, Asics and Nike, the French company did not give up. It developed premium trail clothing and shoes designed specifically for outdoor activities.
In 2020, Salomon became the leader of the running, trail and hiking sector.
Salomon XT6: when running meets streetwear
Having become a leader in the world of trail and hiking, Salomon kept building its reputation and saw its shoes leave the mountain paths to end up on the feet of sneaker addicts with the rise of the Gorpcoretrend. Among the most popular models is the Salomon XT6.
Released in 2013, this silhouette is built to deliver cushioning that stands up to anything, whatever the terrain. It is also designed to last. Built on a base of mesh, it is covered with a TPU film to fight the environmental factors that would weaken it. It is also fitted with an ACS chassis (Agile Chassis™ System), designed for stability and shock absorption.
Salomon XT4
In the same vein, the Salomon XT4 has the same features and advantages as the Salomon XT6, namely a mesh and TPU construction as well as an ACS chassis designed to absorb every impact and deliver optimal cushioning. It does however have a slightly different design from the XT6, which some will find more to their taste.
