Yeezy Foam RNNR
ADIDAS FOAM RUNNER: A FLUID AND FUTURISTIC DESIGN
In November 2019, Kanye West was in full promotion of his album Jesus Is King. To mark the occasion, Ye was the surprise guest of Travis Scott at his Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas. During his performance of Follow God, Yeezy revealed for the first time his Foam RNNR on foot. Imagined in collaboration with the renowned footwear designer Steven Smith, this new avant-garde silhouette made an impression thanks to its futuristic look, which slightly echoes the shape of the Yeezy 350 and Yeezy 380, but also thanks to its composition of foam made from recycled algae grown on the 4,000-acre ranch purchased by Mr. West. Located in Wyoming, this ranch would become the new headquarters of Yeezy and also the manufacturing site for the Foams. The long-term goal is for all of Ye's designs to be made in the United States to reduce the environmental impact of production in Asia and create jobs for locals. After the Yeezy 500 and the Yeezy 700, the Foams embody the limitless creativity of the Chicago artist and illustrate the ecosystem Kanye is gradually building, blending music, fashion, and design. They sparked plenty of reactions (both positive and negative) like most Adidas Yeezy designs, but also kicked off the new trend of clogs/mules with the comeback of the Crocs and monobloc silhouettes (notably with the Yeezy Slides).
YEEZY FOAM RUNNER AND ITS COLORWAYS
It all starts with the Ararat colorway for men and women. This is the first edition to be released in 2020. With its clean look, it became a real hit and was highly sought after by sneakerheads worldwide. It was followed by the Sand colorway, with its cream tones that closely resemble the OG. At the same time, Adidas and Yeezy introduced the Mineral Blue colorway in a midnight blue shade and the MX Clay Cream which featured a marbled color gradient effect. This last one was followed by other "mixed" versions like the MX Moon Gray, with cream gray details, and the MX Sand Grey with bluish spots and finally the MX Carbon which featured a black base with pink and yellow spots. But the Foams will mainly be adored and sought after for their solid colorways like the Vermillon. Released in October 2021, it echoed the Nike Air Yeezy 2 Red October from 2014, the last model in collaboration with Nike by Kanye West. But as with the Yeezy QNTM, Ye's creative teams favored more understated colorways like the Sulfur with its yellow hues, the Ochre which shifts between beige and brown, the Mist, and finally the Stone Sage. The Foam Runner go with any outfit. Opt for pants with a slightly oversized fit like a denim, cargo, or sweatpants/joggers.
