YEEZY 500, A SNEAKER WITH A UNIQUE SILHOUETTE
THE MAKING OF A LEGEND
Inspired by the dad-shoe trend, Kanye West and Adidas released the divisive silhouette of the Yeezy 500 in 2017!
A reference in the music world, the multi-talented artist entered the fashion industry and multiplied collaborations, each more popular than the last. He notably worked with brands like Nike and Louis Vuitton. In 2015, after numerous disagreements with Nike, Kanye West decided to create his own brand in partnership with Adidas: Yeezy.
The young brand then launched several models the year it was founded: the Yeezy Boost 750, the very first sneaker, quickly followed by the Yeezy Boost 350 in version 1 and 2, then the Yeezy 950. Over time, the designer established himself as one of the most influential figures in the fashion industry. With sneakers released in ultra-limited editions, demand remains constant and fans rush to wear the latest Yeezy silhouettes!
More recently, futuristic silhouettes like the Yeezy Boost 380 or slip-on styles like the Yeezy Slide are shaking up the sneakers market!
YEEZY 500: A SNEAKER WITH A DISRUPTIVE DESIGN
It is in this context that the Yeezy 500 model was born. In 2017, the trend was all about chunky sneakers. Also known as dad shoes, this style is inspired by the wide sneakers and shoes from the 90s worn by American “dads.” Kanye West drew heavily from this wave to imagine the silhouettes of the Yeezy 700 and the 500, which will try to compete with the flagship models from Nike. This new line of Yeezy 500 includes the Blush colorway, the very first release. Quickly attracting the curiosity of fans, the designer then decided to adapt the model and later revealed the upcoming colorways: Super Moon Yellow, Utility Black, and more recently Salt.
Breaking away from the Boost sole unique to Adidas, this sneaker features a wider fit and adopts a more original look. Initially criticized for its design, which was very different from the models currently on the market, the Yeezy 500 is now one of the most popular shoes among sneakers enthusiasts, with colorways often marked by their understated style!
EQUIPPED WITH A ADIPRENE SOLE
Adiprene is a technology designed to improve the performance of athletes practicing running, a segment already well occupied by Nike. This technology is implemented under the heel to absorb impacts generated by changes in footing and stride. Often, this technology is combined with Adiprene+, which provides greater stability and a certain explosiveness, especially noticeable during basketball. Thus, Kanye West and his label Yeezy remain true to their values by adding a touch of comfort to their silhouettes. This sole saw its usage skyrocket with the release of basketball models from collaborations with, notably, Portland's famous point guard Damian Lillard and John Wall. More recently, this sole has been integrated into the latest Yeezy 700 V3, marking the model's renewal. In fact, this technology, which is less costly than boost, allows for comfortable models at much more accessible prices. As you can see, Yeezy does not hesitate to use the latest innovations to combine design and comfort in its models.
