YEEZY 700, THE DAD SHOE PAR EXCELLENCE
THE FRUIT OF A LONG COLLABORATION
The Yeezy 700 is the fifth model created by Kanye West for his brand Yeezy. The story begins in 2015, when the rapper and producer teams up with Adidas to create his brand and release his own sneaker models. Following the 750, 350, 950 and 350 V2 models, the Yeezy 700 came out in August 2017.
This new silhouette was revealed at the Yeezy Season 5 show. Kanye West drew on the “dad shoe” trend: those wide, running-look shoes recalling the sneakers of the 90s worn by American fathers. Developed and designed by Ye, the design of the Yeezy 700 is built on a base of mesh and suede. The sole, for its part, is fitted with the Boost technology developed by Adidas.
THE MOST POPULAR CHUNKY SNEAKER
Seen as too kitsch by many men and women who love sneakers, the design of this pair has been the subject of much controversy. Breaking completely with the architecture of the Yeezy 350, the pair draws its lines from those of jet skis. The name Wave Runner is in fact a direct reference to that artistic choice.
Even so, this chunky sneaker has become one of the most popular trainers of recent years. The shoe has come in two versions and several colourways: Wave Runner, Mauve, Static, and more. New colourways were planned for 2019. Backed by men and women who love sneakers alike, the silhouette of the Yeezy 700 has not finished making people talk.
YEEZY 700 V1, V2, V3
Released exclusively on Yeezy Supply for the launch of the collection Yeezy Season 5 and delivered in the course of November 2017, the first Yeezy 700 Wave Runner OG left its mark on the fashion world as well as on sneaker fans. Arriving out of nowhere, this Dad Shoe managed to establish itself as a benchmark thanks to its colour combination with “acid yellow” laces, its pairing of materials and its futuristic sole. It came in many minimalist and effective colourways, with the Yeezy 700 Analog or the Yeezy 700 Utility Black. But as always, the visionary Kanye West knew how to draw on his resources to give it a second wind with a second version, the Yeezy 700 V2. Through a magnificent minimalist colourway named Static, we saw this second version revealed. More technical than its big sister, it is built on a reworked cage with the appearance of the 3 Adidas stripes following the shape of a wave. Many colourways appeared, notably with a magnificent Yeezy 700 Inertia V2 or the Vanta. But who would have thought this model would not stop there? The founder of the label Yeezy would shock the whole world by giving us a V3 just before the end of 2019.
The Yeezy 700 V3 Azael appeared in a black and cream colourway that can go with the most restrained outfits and will delight men and women alike. With a futuristic and forward-thinking design, like the Yeezy 380, there is a cream white glow in the dark cage revealing a wolf grey colourway. Kanye West had promised us: the price is lower than the previous models. That is explained by the use of an older technology, the adiPRENE , present on other Yeezy such as the Yeezy 500 , and by EVA components as on the famous Yeezy Slide. You will have gathered that this silhouette still has fine days ahead of it. So only one question remains: how far will Kanye West go?
