The history of the Adidas Campus sneaker
Born in 1980, the Adidas Campus was originally designed as a reworked version of the basketball shoe Adidas Tournament. However, it was not in the sporting world that it would earn its stripes; it was very much the hip-hop scene and streetwear culture that would bring it to the front of the stage. The Adidas pair was indeed adopted by the group Beastie Boys , who made it their signature shoe, to the point of wearing it on the cover of their cult album “Check Your Head” in 1992. The Adidas Campus 00 carries an upper in soft suede and the emblematic three leather stripes on the side, a simple and elegant design that would earn it many colour versions. The Adidas Campus meets with as much success in the men's sneakers section as in women's sneakers thanks to its comfort and its retro design. Over the years, the pair has evolved to become a timeless classic.
The on-trend Adidas Campus models
Back in force this year, the Adidas Campus 00 has already been the subject of many collaborations this year. Whether with artists such as the singer Bad Bunny, designers such as Jeremy Scott or the streetwear brand Bape, this pair comes in every form. Also much favoured by the skate world, the Campus fits squarely into the Y2K trend and goes perfectly with all 2000s looks and the most oversized trousers. Whatever its shade, this retro model is resolutely on trend and will mark the year 2023. At Wethenew, we wonder what fine collaborations the brand with the three stripes has in store for us on this model.
Still very much on trend, the Adidas Campus is also available at a good price in different selections of colours ideal for every season, which you can find here: the Campus Black for a restrained and timeless look, or else the Campus Pink, the Campus Green or the Campus Blue for a look full of colour. Perfect for bringing a touch of originality to all your outfits.
