Air Jordan 1 High
AIR JORDAN 1 HIGH, THE EDITION THAT LEFT ITS MARK ON ITS ERA
THE AIR JORDAN 1 HIGH, A MODEL WITH A STRONG LEGACY
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High… Perhaps the most iconic silhouette in sneaker history (with the exception of the Air Force 1). The Air Jordan 1 is the very first pair in the line of Michael Jordan models, created in 1985 by Peter Moore. The model was originally intended for NBA courts but, as it did not comply with the league's dress code, it was banned under penalty of a $5,000 fine. The many collaborations with Marvel, Virgil Abloh, Travis Scott and more recently Dior, have allowed the pair to reach a new audience. Praised by both enthusiasts and collectors, the Air Jordan 1 has simply become what we call a "best-seller" or even a "must-have"... Timeless and iconic, this silhouette has won the hearts of all generations through the years, and today sees a future full of promise...
It is important to note that the legendary Air Jordan is also available in two other versions: the Air Jordan 1 Mid, a true success in 2020 and 2021, followed by the Air Jordan 1 Low!
THE AIR JORDAN 1 HIGH: ICONIC EDITIONS
The abundant diversity of Air Jordan 1 High lies above all in its prestigious collaborations. For example, J.Balvin teamed up with Jordan Brand to create a vibrant pair in a tie-dye style. The story of the Air Jordan 1 High began in 1985 with the Air Jordan 1 Chicago OG, worn by Michael Jordan, who at first glance didn't like the colors of the pair: "they make me think of the devil". He finally came around after lengthy negotiations, which then led to a multitudes of colorways with different stories. The Air Jordan 1 High OG UNC to Chicago, which draws on the athletic journey of Michael Jordan, brings together two colorways, echoing two significant periods in his life. The Air Jordan 1 High Fearless edition is a new tribute to the basketball player's career: the blue represents the Tar Heels team and the red represents that of the Chicago Bulls. Finally, the Air Jordan 1 High Defiant were originally designed for basketball players, with, for example, the Air Jordan 1 High Retro OG Defiant Laker Nike SB Lakers . These colorways thus mark the history of the model and help create a true identity for the collection. But that’s not the only driving force behind the success of the Air Jordan 1 High. Collaborations also continue to anchor the model further into the history of the sneakers.
Other silhouettes like the Air Jordan 3 or one of the biggest revelations of recent years, the Air Jordan 4, will in turn become silhouettes marked by iconic collaborations!
PRESTIGIOUS COLLABORATIONS
Nike is capable of offering us luxury models, such as its exclusive collaboration with Dior. In fact, to mark the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan by Nike and the very first launch of the Dior Homme collection in the United States, the two brands teamed up to create the sneaker of our dreams: the Air Dior, which reimagines the flagship model of the Air Jordan 1 High. Presented in Miami last December, the Air Dior stands out as a unique model, blending luxury and streetwear.
Travis Scott and Nike team up once again to create an original and retro sneaker. After the Air Jordan 4 Cactus Jack, now comes the Air Jordan 1 Retro High Travis Scott. The American rapper makes a strong impression with this brown and white leather sneaker. A reverse Swoosh and a small pocket at the back of the shoe are sure to surprise fans of the Air Jordan once again.
These collaborations thus contribute to the democratization of this model to a broader audience, coming from different backgrounds. It’s a way to make the model even more prestigious, and to showcase the hard work of brands and artists through a unique creation.
