Autry
Autry sneakers
Back since 2019, Autry quickly regained popularity after almost 25 years away. A line with vintage lines and clean designs are the ingredients of this winning formula for a brand recognisable by the American flag on its models.
The story of the Autry brand
Founded in 1982 by tennis player Jim Autry, the North American sneaker brand quickly found success in the mid 80s. So much so that the Medalist, the most famous pair in the brand's catalogue, was named“Best Low Top Sneakers in the world”by The Runner's World Magazine and tennis shoe of the year in 1985 by Tennis Magazine.
In 1995, Jim Autry died. That event would mark the end of Autry. With no member of the Autry family willing to take up the torch, it took 24 years, until 2019, forAlberto Raengo and Régis Billard, two French partners specialising in communication, to relaunch the brand. With a vintage catalogue and premium materials true to the brand's image, the two men brought Autry back into the spotlight.
Today the brand offers a selection of sneakers as well as streetwear pieces.
The best Autry trainers
A brand born from tennis, Autry has the advantage of offering unisex models. Autry silhouettes are therefore just as much women's sneakers as men's sneakers.
To mark its return, Autry logically went with its most iconic model: the Medalist. This vintage silhouette inspired by the 80s has an upper sometimes split between leather and suede, sometimes entirely in leather. A deliberately yellowed sole for an aged effect adds the final vintage touch to this sneaker , whose shape can recall the New Balance 550.
Originally from Texas, Autry honours its home state with the Dallasmodel. An upper entirely in leather, an aged sole and the wordsDallas | TXlift this sneaker.
The Super Vintage , for its part, is not content with its old-schoollook: its leather carries a worn effect thanks to treatments carried out in Italy. This silhouette comes in low and midversions.
A leatherbase, a yellowed sole and a rubber toebox: the Autry Bob Lutz and its old-fashioned look is not unlike the legendary adidas Superstar. It was designed as a tribute to the former American tennis player Robert Lutz, nicknamed Bob, who long partnered with a certain Stan Smith, another name that became legendary in the sneaker world.
