Adidas Campus 00s
This summer, the iconic Adidas Campus 00 is back with a vengeance. With its timeless design and cultural heritage, it has become the go-to shoe of the moment.
The history of the Adidas Campus dates back to the 1970s, when it was originally designed for basketball courts. However, it was in the 80s that it really came into its own, becoming one of the symbols of urban culture. In fact, it was in the neighbourhoods animated by hip-hop culture that the Campus found its playground, quickly achieving iconic status thanks to its unwavering association with the famous group Beastie Boys. The high point? The cover of their legendary 1992 album "Check Your Head", featuring the pair in the foreground.
But fans aren't the only ones to be seduced by the Campus: skate culture has also incorporated it into its world. Renowned for its comfort, flexibility and durability, the Adidas Campus has quickly become the shoe of choice for skateboarders. Its ability to absorb impact, withstand intensive wear and provide flawless grip on the board make it an ideal companion. In response to growing demand from the skateboarding community, Adidas has even launched a special edition called "Campus Vulc", which can be recognised by its thinner sole and the word "skateboarding" on the bottom of the heel.
This summer, the Adidas Campus 00 is undeniably back in force, having already been the subject of collaborations with big names in streetwear such as Bape and the king of latin-trap, Bad Bunny. Its success is largely due to the Y2K trend and the oversize trend, as its chunky shape goes perfectly with bagguys and other jorts. At Wethenew, this icon of urban culture is on our radar more than ever. We're even wondering whether the Dunk Low has finally found a rival to match...
