The Timberland 6’ footprint
Timberland may be celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, but it's also making a remarkable comeback on the fashion scene.
For the past few months, the brand and its iconic model - the 6’ Yellow Boot - have been making a comeback, both at Fashion Week and on the feet of cool kids.
Made from easily recognisable yellow nubuck leather, the Timberland became a streetwear classic on the 90s hip-hop scene.
Worn by icons such as Aaliyah, Tupac and Notorious B.I.G., this iconic pair is now back in the spotlight and back in the best outfits this year, thanks in particular to its reinterpretations on the edge of luxury, with Pharrell Williams for Louis Vuitton, for a patent collab with designer Veneda Carter.
A veritable cultural icon, the Timb' immediately evokes the world of East Coast hip-hop artists. So it was a no-brainer for us to organise our first Wethenew Session around this iconic pair.
Combining live performances and behind-the-scenes discussions, the Wethenew Sessions put the spotlight on the artists who inspire us: their history, their world, and their relationship with fashion.

For this first edition, we went to meet Mikano, a French-Cameroonian rapper inspired by legends such as Snoop Dogg, Nas and Biggie.
For him, wearing Timberland is about claiming a piece of his musical and cultural heritage.
"I grew up with the sounds of the 90s, where everyone wore Timberlands. For me, they embody a certain poise."
