Bon Parfumeur
BON PARFUMEUR, THE FRENCH PERFUMERY NUMBERED IN SIGNATURE COLLECTION
LUDOVIC BONNETON FOUNDED BON PARFUMEUR IN 2016
Ludovic Bonneton grew up in Auvergne before heading digital forYves Rocher. In 2016, he created Bon Parfumeur with a specific idea: to revive the beautiful perfumery of yesteryear – that of glass bottles and labels that say what they contain – without the intimidation that usually accompanies it. The house came out in January 2017 with fifteen eau de parfum at once, all made in France, all gender neutral, at prices designed so that one could own several.
The brand is now established in the Marais, rue Sainte-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie and rue des Francs-Bourgeois, and distributed all over the world. It has never changed its principle: no star name, no mythological story, a number and three notes.
THE FIRST NUMBER SAYS THE OLFACTORY FAMILY
Each bottle bears a three-digit number, and it is read from left to right. The first number designates the olfactory family : 0 for colognes, 1 for florals, 2 for fruity, 3 for spicy ambers, 4 for orientals, 5 for gourmands, 6 for woody, 7 for aromatic, 8 for aquatic, 9 for out-of-category creations. The next two number the composition in its family, and the label lists the three main notes.
This system has a consequence that the house encourages: the perfumes are superimposed. A woody one over an aquatic one, a gourmand one over a fruity one – the brand publishes its pairings itself, and this is one of the rare cases in niche perfumery where mixing two bottles is not heresy but an intended use.
THE SIGNATURE COLLECTION: THE NUMBERS ARE GIVEN A NAME
In spring 2026, Bon Parfumeur reorganizes its range into a Signature Collection. The juices remain the same, but each number gains a name that reveals its inspiration, and a bottle tinted in the color of its family. 003 French Yuzu — yuzu, violet leaves, vetiver — opens colognes. The 103 Bloom Illusion brings together tiare, jasmine and hibiscus. The 203 Mûre Ébène brings out the dark fruitiness, the 301 Noces de Santal the woody amber.
On the heat side, the 402 Guilty Vanilla places a toffee vanilla on sandalwood and the 501 Praline Royale takes on the gourmand side — praline, licorice, patchouli. The 602 Narcotic Wood and the 702 Encens Privé, incense, lavender and cashmere wood, cover the woody and aromatic notes. The 801 Blu Palermo takes up the sea spray, cedar and grapefruit of the historic bestseller. Finally, the 905 Place de Minuit captures a city after dark, saffron, cumin, frankincense and tobacco on a base of immortelle and oakmoss.
HOW TO START BON PARFUMEUR TO START
The right entryway depends on what you're already wearing. A regular at woody perfumes will go for 602 or 702; a lover of gourmet perfumes around 402 or 501; someone looking for a fresh floral around 103 or 003. The 801 remains the safe bet of the house, the one that pleases effortlessly.
In our selection of niche perfumes, Bon Parfumeur occupies a place close to Versatile Paris : two Parisian houses who decided that the niche did not need to be cryptic to be serious. One with names that make you smile, the other with numbers that explain.
