Nuages
NUAGES, THE PARISIAN PERFUME EXTRACT BY FRANÇOIS ROBERT
A HOUSE FOUNDED IN 2025, ONE NOSE FOR THE ENTIRE RANGE
Nuages is one of the youngest houses in our selection: founded in Paris in 2025, four perfume extracts at launch, a name that conveys the desired lightness. Where many recent brands are multiplying perfumers to multiply styles, Nuages has made the opposite choice. The entire collection is composed by a single nose, François Robert.
Pedigree counts. Trained at Maison Rochas, François Robert signed for Hermès and Lanvin before teaching atISIPCA, the Versailles perfumery school from which a good part of the profession comes. This unity of authorship is felt from one bottle to another: readable accords, measured with precision, designed to be worn all year round - a house of niche perfumery which aims for accuracy rather than demonstration.
PERFUME EXTRACTS IN 100 ML
The format is that of the serious niche: perfume extracts, highest concentration, in 100 ml bottle. This explains the staying power – several users describe an entire day on skin – and what justifies a light dosage. An extract is worn in two presses, not five. All creations are mixed.
The positioning is assumed: between niche perfumery and mainstream perfumery, for those who want a distinctive trail without the sometimes intimidating codes of the niche. A fragrance that has character, but not excess.
TONKA SKY, VANILLA CREAM, CIRRUS OUD, AZUR RADIANCE: THE FOUR CLOUDS
The two gourmands are the most requested. Ciel Tonka opens with mandarin and coconut, passes through jasmine, cinnamon and honey, and settles on a warm tonka bean enhanced with benzoin and amber — an enveloping vanilla oriental, the most comforting in the range. Crème Vanille starts more fruity, red fruits, pineapple and coconut, slides into a heart of jasmine and lily of the valley, then places a creamy vanilla on tonka and precious wood. Fresh and fruity without being cloying.
Cirrus Oud is the dark piece: bergamot at the top, rose and saffron at the heart, then oud tempered with vanilla and musk — a powerful but refined oud, in the French reading of the genre. Éclat Azur takes the exact opposite approach, sparkling peach and raspberry on a floral heart, white musk and sandalwood in the background, theair clear after the storm.
WHICH CLOUDS START WITH
Want something soft: Ciel Tonka or Vanilla Cream, to be ranked among the best gourmet perfumes in our selection. Desire for depth: Cirrus Oud, to compare to the more classic woody perfumes . Want freshness: Éclat Azur. And if you like this logic of a single nose that holds an entire house, Une Nuit Nomade offers the opposite approach — six perfumers for a single collection — and comparing the two says a lot about what we're looking for in a niche perfume.
