Essentials Fear of God
Essentials Fear of God: the minimalist streetwear
If it’s not a standalone brand, Essentials is a sub-label of the luxury streetwear brand Fear of God, created by American designer Jerry Lorenzo between 2012 and 2013. The first Essentials collection launched in 2018. The goal of this sub-label is to offer pieces designed by Fear of God at more accessible prices, allowing fans of streetwear to wear these pieces.
Essentials apparel quickly found an audience and was seen worn by numerous celebrities such as Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, as well as James Harden and Virgil Abloh.
To take his sub-label further, Jerry Lorenzo even set up an exclusive collaboration between Essentials and the California shop Union LA for the Essentials Fall 2021 collection.
The best Essentials apparel by Fear of God
The key word for Essentials is minimalism. Through its pieces, the sub-label of Fear of God offers classic apparel in understated tones, ranging from beige to black, including brown and forest green. Among the brand’s best sellers, the Essentials hoodie is definitely worth mentioning. This Essentials hooded sweatshirt features a subtle branding at the heart, which is duplicated in a much larger size on the back and reads “Essentials Fear of God” across two lines. The classic t-shirt is also worth mentioning, following the same branding structure as the hoodie.
Essentials pieces are unique in that they can match with anything thanks to their simplicity. Essentials apparel can be worn with sneakers from any brand, regardless of silhouette. They pair perfectly with a pair of ASICS, Adidas, Jordan, or Nike.
Like a Supreme Streetwear or even from the label of Travis Scott Cactus Jack, Essentials, boosted by Fear of God, has made a name for itself in less than 10 years in sneakers culture.
