Casablanca
Casablanca: relaxed French luxury
Casablanca is not a luxury brand like any other. Casablanca is a contemporary fashion house founded in 2018 by the French-Moroccan designer Charaf Tajer. Before launching Casablanca, Tajer had already cut his teeth in the world of streetwear by co-founding the Parisian brand Pigalle alongside Stéphane Ashpool. The aim of Casablanca is to bring together the elegance of premium ready-to-wear with the comfort of sportswear, while offering colourful, sunny pieces accessible to an international audience.
Casablanca clothing quickly won over many celebrities and has been seen on figures such as A$AP Rocky, Rihanna, Booba, Koba LaD, Achraf Hakimi and Fally Ipupa. In 2020, Casablanca was named a finalist for the prestigious LVMH Prize, confirming its status as a rising house in the French luxury landscape.
To take his brand further, Charaf Tajer set up a much-noticed collaboration between Casablanca and New Balance, giving rise to several iconic sneaker models such as the 327 and the XC-72, in colourways inspired by his Moroccan heritage.
The best Casablanca pieces
The watchword at Casablanca is relaxed elegance. Through its collections, the house offers clothing with vibrant prints in shades running from coral to emerald by way of off-white and sunny orange. Among the brand's best sellers, the Casablanca silk shirt surely stands out. This shirt carries exclusive patterns inspired by travel and the Mediterranean, and has become a genuine symbol of the brand. Worth mentioning too are the towelling tracksuit and the coloured linen suit, two classic pieces that pick up the sportswear-chic DNA specific to Casablanca.
Casablanca pieces have the advantage of working in relaxed settings as well as on dressier occasions, thanks to their refined look. Casablanca clothing therefore goes perfectly with a pair of New Balance, Nike or luxury sneakers such as Common Projects.
Much like Jacquemus or the house of AMI Paris, Casablanca, driven by the vision of Charaf Tajer, has made a name for itself in less than ten years in fashion and sneaker culture worldwide.
