Fascent
FASCENT, THE NICHE PERFUMERY THAT PLAYS THE LAYERING AT 55 EUROS
FANNY FORTIN DESCAMPS AND EDWINA RÉTHORÉ FOLDER FASCENT IN 2023
The name is a contraction — facets and scent, the facets and the perfume — and he says the project. Fascent was born in Paris in 2023 from the meeting of two professionals in the sector. Fanny Fortin Descamps, passed by Guerlain, Carven and the composition houses Firmenich and CPL Aromas, holds the creative direction. Edwina Réthoré, general director, is leading the development.
Their initial observation: niche perfumery has become expensive, solemn and intimidating. They want it to be approachable, liberated and alive. Three pillars — feel good, feel good, feel yourself — and a single price, €55 for a 30 ml bottle, so that you can have several and wear them together.
PERFUMES DESIGNED TO BE STACKED
This is the signature of the house. Each creation is designed to be worn alone or layering, superimposed on another from the collection, depending on the mood and the aspect of the day. The juices are composed with the independent creative studio Flair Paris — the same laboratory that signs for Versatile Paris — and by recognized perfumers: Marine Mercé, Elise Pierre, Alexandra Monet.
The combinations that the brand itself offers says the logic: Crème Brûlante on Milky No Way for a woody gourmand, Crème Brûlante on Sel à Vie for a sweet and sour. An approach that we find at Bon Parfumeur, another Parisian house which encourages mixing its bottles - both are, in the French niche, those which have made layering an argument rather than a transgression.
CORN STAR, CRÈME BRÛLANTE, MILKY NO WAY: THE RANGE FASCENT
Sel à Vie is the first fragrance of the house, a summer day by the water — mandarin, white flowers, marine notes. I Fig You plays fresh green, fig leaf, tea and vetiver. Milky No Way places milky notes on a woody sky of sandalwood and hazelnut, and is the most worn in all seasons.
The two gourmands are the most recent. Crème Brûlante, vanilla, almond balm and benzoin, became the best-seller in 2025. Corn Star, released in 2026, reconstitutes popcorn — popcorn, pear, marshmallow — avoiding the cloying sweetness by a construction of textures rather than a classic pyramid. It's the most daring creation in the range, and the one that has made the brand talk well beyond its 310 points of sale.
WHERE TO START AT FASCENT
If you already wear gourmet perfumes, Crème Brûlante is the obvious entry, and Corn Star the logical next step. If you're looking for a low-key daily, Milky No Way or I Fig You. The 30 ml format at €55 makes it less risky to try — which, in our selection of niche perfumes, in fact with Versatile Paris the most accessible gateway to independent French perfumery.
