Nike Air Max 2090
NIKE AIR MAX 2090: THE AIR MAX OF THE FUTURE?
A CREATION BETWEEN PAST AND FUTURE
Released for the very first time at Air Max Day 2020 with the Air Max 2090 Pure Platinum, the new model from the American brand very quickly won the heart of the sneaker community. Created for the 30 years of the Air Max 90, this creation was imagined as the follow-up to the 1990 model, one that would make the link between past and future. First brought to the fore with several Recraft reissues inspired by the original version, the DNA of the Air Max 90 is found in a few features of the new Air Max from the brand with the swoosh. Notably a cut swoosh placed on the mudguard, a rear tab and a midsole, elements similar to the original model but whose shape is somewhat different, no doubt to signal the continuity of the Air Max 90.
A real innovation of its kind, the Air Max 2090 also breathes boldness from the first glance. Many elements point to a decidedly futuristic model: a semi-translucent mesh, a new lacing system that is even quicker, a rear pull tab in the form of a cord and a ribbed effect at the heel.
A MODEL IN MANY COLOURWAYS
While the Air Max 2090 meets several major criteria such as OG references and futuristic inspirations, it also meets the one of choice among available colourways. A few rather classic and minimalist versions such as the Air Max 2090 Black or the Air Max 2090 Triple White allow for a wide range of outfits, while rather colourful and original versions such as the Pink Foam, Valerian Blue or Navy Black Photon Dust colourways prove perfectly suited to the summer season, or to fans of ultra-colourful silhouettes.
NIKE AIR TECHNOLOGY: HOW FAR WILL IT GO?
If there is one model to remember when talking about the Nike AIRtechnology, it is indeed the Air Max 1 : a creation that is among the silhouettes to have marked the history of the sneaker for good. Designed in 1987 by Tinker Hatfield, famous creator of the Air Jordan 3, of the Air Jordan 4 and of many other classics, the pair is one of the first to adopt the Nike AIR technology. It stands out above all for its unique design, which lets you glimpse the air bubble inside its soles through a small window at the heel, and the story of its creation is known to every sneaker fan.
Since that day, the Air Max models have won everyone over and have met with growing success over the years, both among athletes for the comfort the technology provides, letting them push past their limits, and among sneaker fans. With the rise of the sneaker and streetwear world, the Nike Air technology is constantly celebrated and reinvented through unavoidable reissues and limited releases , as we have seen notably with the Air Max 97/1 Sean Wotherspoon and the Air Max 90 Off-White Desert Ore , or through previously unseen models such as the Air Max 270 React, the Air Max 720 and of course the Air Max 2090.
