Back at the top of the trends, especially thanks to models like the 550, 327 and 991, New Balance has taken its seat at the table alongside brands like adidas and Nike. NB then successfully leveraged its popularity to give its brand a fresh wave of modernity, always with its signature vintage touch.
It’s through the New Balance 2002R that the brand originally from Boston came up with the now-famous Protection Pack. The deconstructed effect gives a shredded look to certain panels of the model, and the Protection Pack was an instant hit. So much so that the New Balance 2002R Protection Pack was quickly reinvented in multiple variations. First in white, black, and gray, this silhouette then saw blue, pink, beige, and even orange iterations.
This new version of the 2002R won over the hearts of all sneakers fans. New Balance then decided not to stop there. A few months later, the American brand unveiled a brand new silhouette, the New Balance 1906R. A model that slightly recalls the 2002R but with some extra TPU panels. Instantly adopted, this pair was quickly dressed in the Protection Pack through colorways that made it shine.
