STREETWEAR MADE IN OFF-WHITE
OFF-WHITE: THE ORIGINS
The brand Off-White was created in 2013 by Virgil Abloh. A complete artist and polymath, Virgil Abloh was an architect by training. After obtaining his degrees in architecture and civil engineering, he cut his teeth in music as a DJ and launched at the same time his first clothing brand, named Pyrex ; taking up the old classics of other brands to customise them, he met with real success but also faced a few controversies. Both coming from Chicago and from the same creative circles, he became the right-hand man of Kanye West , whom he saw as his mentor. While assisting him during the launch of his brand Yeezy, he launched at the same time his music production house Pyrex Vision and ended up devoting himself almost exclusively to fashion. At least for the time it took to create his new brand Off-White in Milan.
THE HEIGHT OF URBAN CULTURE
Very largely inspired by his urban background, the streetwear brand carries luxury and arty influences. The emphasis is placed on the visuals and the lines of the creations. He made sure to keep the exclusive and divisive side of his creations, inspired by the way the greatest luxury houses operate. Off-White quickly established itself as a new benchmark of fashion and as the unavoidable brand of American stars.
Seen as a powerful brand, Off-White has enjoyed many partnerships, each more prestigious than the last: Levi's, Jimmy Choo, IKEA, Browns, SSENSE, Champion, Converse, Umbro or Timberland. But among those many collaborations, two hold a very particular place: Louis Vuitton and Nike. Louis Vuitton because the designer was the artistic director of the men's collection of the French house. And Nike because in 2017 the two brands released a series of trainers, named “ The Ten ”, which marked the history of the sneaker.
Strong from its success, the Italian brand Off-White carries on writing its history…
