The origin of the Jordan 14 Retro
The Air Jordan 14 is a piece of history in its own right. Unveiled in 1998, this silhouette is the last pair worn by Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls. It is also the one with which he won his sixth and last NBA title, after making the most important shot of his career in the finals against the Utah Jazz.
To design this legendary model, Tinker Hatfield drew on the Ferrari 550, so admired by Michael Jordan. While the pair was still only a prototype, MJ , won over, decided to wear the AJ14 to go and claim his last NBA title.
Drawing on MJ's passion for luxury cars, the Air Jordan 14 carries an upper in premium leather : a nod to the tyres of supercars and to the Italian leather interior of Ferrari models. The Jumpman placed on the ankle takes up, for its part, the curves of the badge of the Italian carmaker.
The most on-trend Jordan 14 models
Ranked among the most comfortable models of the Air Jordan line, the AJ14 marked the career of Michael Jordan. Some colourways have become emblematic for many sneakerheads. One thinks of course of the Air Jordan 14 Last Shot and its red and black colourway, worn by Michael Jordan during his last game with the Chicago Bulls. To that AJ14 Last Shot is added the Air Jordan 14 Candy Cane, offered in white and red, which has become a timeless piece.
Since 1998, the Air Jordan 14 has been at the centre of on-trend collaborations, notably with CLOT or the American designer Aleali May. A little less well known than the Air Jordan 1 or the Air Jordan 4, the AJ14 remains one of the most symbolic pieces of the Air Jordancatalogue.
